Anytime, anywhere - We can arrange the supply of anything from a UPS for a digital recording or keyboard rig to a complete temporary power system for any entertainment event, commercial or industrial application.
Whether it be safety planning and execution for the Video Music Awards in Miami, or making sure a CEO was not interrupted by power failure or providing UPS power for test equipment aboard the prototype bullet train.
Backroom can deliver not only a fully certificated and working installation with the minimum of fuss, but complete peace of mind should problems arise.
Our total commitment to you, our customers, has been praised many times.
They know that, if they ever do have a problem, we can and do solve it.
Our track record is second to none - indeed, in many cases, we have been the only company willing to take on the project, and able to provide a solution. In the past, we have supplied just about every type and size of electrical & electro-mechanical equipment: a seamless power system for the commissioning of a 400MW power station; frequency changers for industry; generators for building shutdowns; Sync to mains power generation for broadcast studios - the list is endless.
We have never actively advertised the company, relying entirely on word of mouth, (the most difficult endorsement to obtain, and without a doubt the easiest to loose).
Our customers are, and always have been, our walking talking advertising campaign. When you are happy with our service and backup, please spread the word. If, for any reason at all, this is not the case, then please call me personally to discuss the problem — it will be resolved!
We really do appreciate your continuing support and value your past and future business.
Thank You
Laurence Dunnett

History
In 1985 I was electronics shop technician at TFA and still touring when I could. Backroom Rentals was founded with partner and good friend Bill Kelsey, to hire studio effects, such as AMS and Lexicon units. Bill Kelsey was a electronics and audio genius. I am very lucky indeed to have had the good fortune to have worked with him for many a year, he was a great man.
Key Points (not quite set in stone)
Some time afterwards we moved away from effects hire and purchased transformers to service mainly Electrotec clients in concert touring. The first tour was Rod Stewart, followed quickly by Spandau Ballet. In 1988 we had just 10 days to organise and deliver the 2 x 90kVA transformers required for audio for Prince Lovsexy tour, Mick Cater of ALE had called and said "thanks for sorting out the power on Steve Winwood, Prince starts in Paris next week, see you there". I put down the phone, and thought well better buy some more kit and quick about it!. 2x90kVA transformers powered the audio on that tour. They were connected together to deliver 500A/ph @ 208V, it was rudimentary but it did work. After Prince we had 2x90Kva plus the original 3x30kVA. Around this time I started to hire UPS systems to bands, although they were seriously expensive and heavy, they became very popular and we worked with most of the majors including Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, and Erasure etc.
Backroom Ltd was registered in 1997 and opened our new office in Rio de Janerio in 1999. Since then, business has expanded to include many different activities - after all, everybody needs power. We moved out of Rio last year, and now run all jobs both here and abroad through the UK.
We are to be found in South-West London in our ground floor space complete with comprehensive technical facilities on site.
Our continued success & growth has come exclusively from previous customer recommendations and client contacts, since our beginning we have now about to ship job#4322, with an almost zero incident rate.
Our clients require that their power is distributed, controlled, supported and maintained to a high standard.
